Prof. Dr. Halit Yanıkkaya received his undergraduate degree from Gazi University and his master’s and doctoral degrees in economics from the University of Delaware, USA, in 1997 and 2001, respectively. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Economics at Gebze Technical University.
His research focuses on international economics, global value chains, economic growth and development, and institutional economics. His work examines international trade, growth and productivity, as well as the effects of global value chains on technological and economic upgrading, innovation, sectoral growth, and environmental performance. His recent research focuses on the role of artificial intelligence, innovation, and climate economics in shaping global production and development processes.
In 2007, Prof. Yanıkkaya received the TÜBA Outstanding Young Scientist Award (GEBİP) and was elected an Associate Member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) in 2015. He has served as a principal investigator, coordinator, and researcher in numerous national and international research projects and has received Best Paper Awards at international conferences. He also serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals and acts as a reviewer for leading journals in economics.
